Emma Acquired!

I promised myself I would wait longer between Austen novels, but I couldn't resist when I saw Emma on the shelf at the library. After Persuasion, it's been the most recommended to me of her books. I've never seen Clueless or this year's adaptation of the original (though it does look tempting) so I'll be going into it fresh once I finish up with Dracula.

Editor's notes are a must! And you're right about getting into Austen. I sometimes feel like I need a dictionary from that era in order to read on.

A friend lent me a copy of "What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew." It's like a mini textbook specifically answering questions about daily life from the Regency era through the Victorians. Very useful!
