Emma Acquired!

I promised myself I would wait longer between Austen novels, but I couldn't resist when I saw Emma on the shelf at the library. After Persuasion, it's been the most recommended to me of her books. I've never seen Clueless or this year's adaptation of the original (though it does look tempting) so I'll be going into it fresh once I finish up with Dracula.

"Emma" has always been my favorite of Jane Austen's books.

I just thought of another Victorian woman writer - Vernon Lee. She's most famous for her supernatural tales. Her work is available on Kindle and in paperback.

Oh, tell me when you start Emma! I'm thinking of reading Sense and Sensibility sometime soon.

Got ahead read when ready! I've got a free copy on my Nook! I do have Sense and Sensibility in paperback, so if that ever comes up, I'm prepared.

Relearning to read Austen is where I'm at too, and I'm only in chapter two! I understand it, but there's this certain mode you have to be in, you know?

Where are you now? I'm afraid I'm behind. I'm one of those people that read multiple books at once. XD

I'm one of those people who wants to be a Jane Austen fan, but has not read much of her writing. I've mainly read Lady Susan and to chapter seven in Emma. Pathetic isn't it? LOL

Lady Susan is hilarious and bitchy. It's written in the format of letters, so every section is a letter sent to so-and-so, usually complaining about someone else based on a letter they received. XD

Editor's notes are a must! And you're right about getting into Austen. I sometimes feel like I need a dictionary from that era in order to read on.

I've seen that book floating around the 'Net. There's a book I want that's similar, but focuses on the Tudor era.
