The Fellowship of the Ring Acquired!

I decided on The Fellowship of the Ring for my next book. I've read it once before (last year, actually), and what I mostly remember are hobbit genealogy and history (my favorite), a lot of walking, the strangeness that is Tom Bombadil, and Samwise being the best character. (I love Sam. I have an embarrassing crush on him.)

I tried reading it in high school and then in college, but I bounced off both times. It wasn't until I saw the movie that I was able to actually sit down and understand what was going on. Tolkien is a very descriptive writer and has a clear understanding of his world and its history, but that can sometimes be to his detriment - at least for me.

Anyways, I'm excited to read through it again and write some posts for y'all!

It'll be cool to put down my thoughts for others to see this time. I found that annotating my copy of Frankenstein was really helpful, but I'm still debating if I want to go into that level of detail with Fellowship.

Ha, I can't write on books. They made me do it for a-level English Lit, and it made me so sad

(Mind you, I am also the person who can't use the scoresheets that come with board games. I am weirdly anal about it; no permanent changes to the game materials, dammit. I'm still holding out for games to come with a wipe-clean scoring card. I could cope with that)

I'm the same way with board games and stuff like that. I have this weird idea that I'm ruining the "value" of it, even if I don't ever intend to sell it.
