He’s essentially the Shire if the Shire was a person—kind, slow to adapt to change, somewhat wary of outsiders. I've never heard Sam's character put quite that way, and I really like it. I agree that he was the perfect companion for Frodo.
The Shire is his home, but it’s not his destiny and it’s something he wants to protect, even at the cost of never being able to return. Yes! This is giving me all the Fellowship feels. It's too early for a rewatch and too soon for a reread, so I must resist the urge. haha
